Terms of use
Solo Card Games is a free site of classic card games that you play in your browser against computer players. Nothing is sold here, nothing is asked of you, and no money or prize is ever at stake. These terms identify the operator, set out what you may do with the content, and say plainly what the site does not promise.
1. Who operates this site
- Operator
- Sergio Padilla, a natural person.
- Country of residence, and the place from which the site is operated
- Mexico. The operator has no establishment, office, branch, or agent in the United States.
- Contact
- hello@solocardgames.com. This is the site's only contact channel and the address for every communication, including those about privacy and about intellectual property.
- Domain name
- solocardgames.com, registered with Cloudflare Registrar in the operator's name.
- Hosting and network services
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States), which provides the hosting of this static site on Cloudflare Pages, the content delivery network, the DNS, and the forwarding of the site's email.
- Readers
- The site is written in American English for players in the United States.
- Activity
- Free publication of classic card games that run in the player's own browser, with the rules written out beside each table. No products or services are sold, and nothing is arranged, referred, or brokered for anyone.
2. A game, not gambling
Solo Card Games is for entertainment only. No money is wagered, no prize is offered, no purchase is needed to play, and nothing you win has any value outside the table. The scores and statistics are for your own amusement. The site is not a gambling service and does not teach or encourage gambling.
The rules on each game page are the traditional ones, with the options the page lists. Where families and clubs play a game differently, the page says which version the table follows.
3. What the service is
Access to the site is free and open. There is no registration, no account, no newsletter, no comments, and no form of any kind.
The games run entirely inside your browser: your hands, your choices, and your results never leave your device, they are not sent to any server, and they do not appear in the page's address. Settings, a game in progress, and statistics are kept in your browser's local storage so you can pick up where you left off; they stay on your device, and you can clear them at any time. If your browser or device clears that storage, they are lost, and the operator cannot restore them.
The site is offered as it is. Its availability is not guaranteed, the operator may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of it at any time, and technical errors are possible.
4. Acceptable use
By using this site you agree to use it lawfully, in good faith, and in accordance with these terms, and in particular not to:
- Use the site for a purpose the law forbids, or in a way that damages, overloads, or degrades it or the infrastructure that serves it.
- Try to reach parts of the site that are not public, or the systems of the providers that host it.
- Extract the content in bulk by automated means to republish or reuse it beyond what section 5 allows.
- Introduce or spread malicious code through the site.
- Impersonate the operator of the site, or present your own content as coming from Solo Card Games.
5. Intellectual property
The text, the structure, the design, the illustrations, the source code, the games, and the selection and arrangement of the content of Solo Card Games are the operator's own work and are protected by copyright. The name Solo Card Games and the domain solocardgames.com belong to the operator.
What you may do without asking: play, read, print, save, and share the pages for your own use; link to any page of the site; and quote short passages for information, teaching, or research, as long as you name Solo Card Games as the source and link to the page the quotation came from.
What you may not do without written permission: reproduce or republish the content substantially on another site or in another medium, even with attribution; copy the games or the illustrations; create derivative works from them; extract the content systematically by automated means; or use the name of the site in a way that suggests a relationship, an endorsement, or a partnership that does not exist.
What is not the operator's property: the card games themselves. Their rules are traditional and belong to everyone, and the sources the pages cite for them are named on each page. What is the operator's own work is the way the rules are written, explained, and organized, and the programs and pictures built on top of them.
If you believe that content on this site infringes your rights, write to hello@solocardgames.com identifying the content and the right affected. It will be reviewed and, where appropriate, removed.
6. Links to other sites
This site links to third-party pages, especially to the sources cited for the history and the rules of the games. Those links exist so that you can check what the page says for yourself.
The operator does not control those pages and is not responsible for their content, their availability, their terms of use, or their privacy practices. When you follow one of those links you leave solocardgames.com and the terms of the destination site apply to you.
You may link to any page of this site without asking, as long as the link opens the page as it is, without framing it or reproducing it inside another page, and without suggesting a relationship, a sponsorship, or an endorsement that does not exist.
7. No warranty
The site is published as it is and as it is available. The operator does not warrant that the content is complete, that the games are free of error, that the site will be available without interruption, or that it is free of technical error. A game may have a bug, and a rule may be played differently at your own table.
What the site does promise is method, not outcome: the deals are shuffled fairly, as the fair play page explains, and a problem you report is looked at.
8. Limitation of liability
The operator is not liable for loss arising from errors or omissions in the content, from a game behaving in a way you did not expect, from a saved game or statistics being lost, from the site being unavailable, or from the use you make of the site.
Nothing in these terms removes or limits any right you have as a consumer under the law of your state. Consumer protection legislation sets out rights and remedies that a website's terms cannot waive, and this section applies only to the extent that the applicable law allows. It does not exclude liability for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Governing law and disputes
The operator is a natural person resident in Mexico and this site is directed at readers in the United States. The operator does not ask you to accept the law or the courts of another country as a condition of using the site.
Where mandatory provisions of your state's law apply to you, they apply, and you keep the right to bring a matter before the courts of your own place of residence. Mexican law binds the operator because of the operator's residence, which is why the privacy page carries a second part written under that law. If any clause of these terms is held to be invalid, the remaining clauses stay in force.
10. Advertising
As of the site shows no advertising and earns nothing. What the operator intends and how any change would be handled are set out in section A.4 of the privacy policy.
11. Privacy and cookies
How personal information is handled is described in the privacy policy, which contains both the information for readers in the United States and the privacy notice required by the Mexican law that binds the operator. Cookies and browser storage are covered on the cookies page.
What you do in the games does not leave your browser: it is processed on your own device and is not sent to any server.
12. Changes to these terms
These terms may change to follow a change in the law, a change in how the site works, or the activation of advertising. Each version carries its date of last update at the top of this page, and substantial changes are flagged visibly for a reasonable time.
